Emily Barton - Workforce & Culture Director

I joined OneMedical Group in 2018 having worked in various multi-disciplinary organisations across several different sectors leading on operational development, workforce management, business strategy, performance and growth and was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in 2022. My sector background is predominantly commercial with employee relationships, leadership and engagement being at the forefront of each role that I’ve held. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in a mental health trust which was a real eye opener for me personally and professionally and I have been extremely passionate about workplace and workforce wellbeing since this experience.

I lead the HR function which is responsible for all things people related. This includes recruitment, compliance, on-boarding, staff development, performance, absence, wellbeing and engagement. The HR function also stays on top of new legislation and best practice and we advise the group on employment law, process and policy for our workforce.

Our people are our most important asset, and HR’s role is to also ensure everyone is nurtured and supported, with teams engaged and people situations managed effectively. HR are also here to champion and drive a positive and healthy workplace culture and environment and our Group wellbeing strategy is providing a huge amount of opportunity for this at present.

I have a passion for innovation, and thrive in environments where I can support in identifying and seizing opportunities for continuous improvement, which is where my organisational development work comes into action for OneMedical Group.

I’m a vegetarian, currently trying to better educate myself and family to a more plant based diet although my love for cheese is a tough one to give up! I love ‘pottering’ in my garden and kitchen and find both cooking and gardening really mindful – eating homemade Spanish tapas with loved ones and a good glass of red wine is the perfect weekend treat for me!
