Our charity work through the OMG Foundation

Since we launched our OMG Foundation charitable arm, we have worked closely with our sites across OneMedical Group to support their chosen charities. As a result, we have had excellent outcomes in creating new opportunities for them to help and address healthcare issues and needs in local communities.

OMG Foundation brings together our passion for helping the communities we operate within, ending health inequalities across the U.K. and developing business innovation. Despite the background of Covid restrictions, our sites have found innovative ways to support their local communities by donating their time, funds and space.

  • Drop-in ‘coffee morning’ sessions in Milton Keynes

To meet the challenges facing healthcare and the local community in Milton Keynes, together with Whitehouse Surgery, we supported Community Action: MK with £1,000 of funding to run a series of drop-in ‘coffee morning’ sessions gathering local community representatives, patients, residents, healthcare providers, leaders and decision-makers. The Whitehouse team provides space at the Surgery for Community Action: MK to host the coffee mornings so people can listen, discuss and use the feedback to improve local and social healthcare within the community.

Rosie Barton, Wellbeing Lead at Whitehouse Surgery, said: “During the pandemic, people have felt isolated. To help bring the community together after what has been a challenging couple of years, we decided on coffee mornings to make sure all felt welcome. We’ve had a lot of interest from other local charities and groups eager to come along as guest speakers. It’s great to have the opportunity to rerun community engagement events.”

  • A good night’s sleep for children supported by Zarach charity

Our team at Shakespeare Medical Practice chose to support Zarach charity and their mission to ‘deliver beds and basics to children in poverty and to help families in crisis rise up from surviving to thriving so children can Eat, Sleep and Learn’.

A £1,713.00 donation from the OMG Foundation meant that 11 children in need received new bed bundles, including a bed, mattress, duvet, pillow, bedding, pyjamas, and a hygiene pack. Zarach trustees were very grateful and said: “Your donation will also provide 11 children with an equal opportunity to education and a greater opportunity to achieve their full potential. Thank you again for your support. Together we will continue to change lives”.

  • A breath of fresh hair for patients losing their hair due to cancer treatment

Our team at The Light Surgery chose to support The Leeds Hair Loss Service at St James University Hospital with a £2,117 donation to provide wigs for 27 patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Patients losing their hair due to cancer treatment report that it is highly traumatic, and many say it’s worse than the treatment itself. The prescription charge of £78 per wig can be a cost barrier for some people who would like one. Through our support, the Centre can now open its door to more people and substantially positively impact their quality of life.

  • OMG Foundation year 2

In 2022, we are delighted to launch OMG Foundation year two, aiming to bring business together with health and care organisations to collaborate and lead the way in supporting groups and good causes to help their local community. Now more than ever, we want to deliver our mission of Improving Lives and ensuring we play our part in meeting the challenges that face healthcare and local communities over the years.

We look forward to working further with our selected charities and organisations and updating you on our progress and journey.
