I am the Joint Founder and Vice Chairman of OneMedical Group. I have over the years Chaired the Boards of other businesses. I am an experienced businessman, philanthropist and long-time supporter of performing arts organisations particularly music. I have also supported a number of charities focussed on helping disadvantaged children.
For six years (2013 – 2019) I was Chairman of the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras (the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Revolutonnaire & Romantique (MCO). For twelve years (1998 to 2010) I was Chairman of Opera North. I was also Chairman of Leeds Philharmonic Society (1991 – 1997).
I have since 2021 Chaired the Capital appeal for the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust Children’s Hospital which is considering how building might begin before 2032 the date recently announced by Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health.
In 2017, I established with a personal donation of £1m, the ‘Michael Beverley Innovation Fellowships’ at the University of Leeds to support and grow wider innovation, including medical innovation. Prior to becoming involved with healthcare I was the UK Regional and Senior Partner for Arthur Andersen retiring in August 2001 having played a major role in developing and growing the partnership business.
From 2000-2006, I was a government-appointed member of the then Department of Trade & Industry’s Industrial Development Board (IDAB). The purpose of the Board was to advise government on major inward investment grant applications to establish and or develop UK industries, e.g., Chemicals, Motor manufacturing and Life Sciences. Since ceasing to be a partner in Arthur Andersen, I have developed a number of other businesses.
In 2010, I reorganised my various business interests to focus on developing OneMedical Group with my daughter, Rachel Beverley-Stevenson. In 2000, I was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire by the late Queen Elizabeth second. I am a devoted lifelong Leeds United supporter having served on their PLC Board from 1988 – 1995.
