OneMedical Group is sponsoring Roundhay Park Festival 2022 in Leeds. This event is celebrating 150 years since Roundhay Park was officially opened as a public park by Leeds City Council.
This event is part of our commitment to supporting our communities to become healthier and happier. We know that genuine co-production of care with local people is crucial to building strong, resilient communities.
Dr William Dawson, CEO of OneMedical Group, shares his thoughts:
“We are proud to be sponsoring the 150th anniversary celebrations in Roundhay Park this weekend. As a Leeds-based NHS primary care provider, OneMedical Group are working to build a healthier future for all. Roundhay Park allows diverse communities to come together in nature, making a positive difference to their physical and mental wellbeing, whether it be through wild swimming, Parkrun, using the outdoor gym and playgrounds, or meeting friends and making connections.
The park played a crucial role throughout the pandemic for many local people, as a place to safely exercise and meet friends. It is an essential resource for our local staff and registered patients at Shakespeare Medical Practice in Burmantofts and The Light Surgery in the city centre, with Roundhay Park only a short bus ride away. We believe more needs to be done to reduce health inequalities. Community assets which are open to everyone, including parks and this event, offer a great opportunity to celebrate diversity and create a healthier future.”
Since gaining our first contract in Leeds 15 years ago at The Light Surgery, we’ve expanded our presence locally to include Shakespeare Medical Practice and Walk-in Centre in Burmantofts. A little further afield, we also run Westgate Surgery in Otley and Wetherby Surgery. Over 30,000 patients are registered at our Leeds practices, and around 4,000 patients visit Shakespeare Walk-in Centre each month.
We are dedicated to creating healthier communities. Our sites offer a range of services, delivered by expert staff recruited from the local area. These include Wellbeing Advisors, Health Coaches, GPs, Nurses, and Associate Nurse Practitioners.
There are many elements of living healthily, and access to green space is crucial. We believe strongly in delivering preventative healthcare: whilst many people wait until they are ill to make an appointment with their GP, we can also support you to live a healthier life through lifestyle coaching and social prescribing. Our mental wellbeing support can also ensure that you are living your best life.
Our mission is to improve lives, and we do this through closing the gap on healthcare inequalities wherever we can. We acknowledge that there are significant inequalities across Leeds, and that not everyone has access to beautiful green spaces like Roundhay Park. Through our work to break down barriers to care, including proactively reaching out to marginalised groups, we are building a healthier future for all.
We are proud to sponsor this event and we hope that everyone has a great day enjoying this fantastic community space.
