Sweet Success: Minehead Medical Centre Brings Community Together Over Coffee and Cake
This weekend, Minehead Medical Centre opened its doors to West Somerset residents for a special coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, combining a good cause with a chance to talk about all things health and wellbeing.
Patients and community members dropped in for tea, coffee and cake, while the team was on hand to offer advice, share information about local health services, and highlight simple ways to look after your health.
An Armed Forces Link Worker also met with the team from Minehead Medical Centre at the event, where they had a chat about how they could better support members of the Armed Forces community. As a result, he will now be attending the practice fortnightly on Thursdays, starting from 1 October, to meet with members of the Armed Forces community and make it easier for them to access the help and support they need.
No community event is complete without cake, and this one certainly wasn’t short of cake. The tables were full of delicious homemade treats for everyone to enjoy. OneMedical Group's very own mascot, Uno the Sheep, even made a surprise appearance on the cake table.
The turnout was fantastic, and the team at Minehead Medical Centre were thrilled to see so many members of the community come together for such a worthwhile cause. Bringing people together, raising almost £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support, and sharing valuable health information all in one afternoon made for a really successful event.
Given the warm response, the practice hopes to host many more events like this in the near future, so watch this space for details of what's coming next!
